Ray Bradbury died in 2012 following a long illness, but his works continue to be as widely read and popular as ever. He also adapted 65 of his stories for the television series Ray Bradbury Theatre, which ran from 1985 to 1992. In addition to his work in print, Bradbury was also a screenwriter. Bradbury was also honored with the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters in 2000. Though his formal education ended when he graduated from high school, Bradbury was nevertheless determined to hone his skills as a writer.
